Reviewing the Impact of Land Use and Land?Use Change on Moisture Recycling and Precipitation Patterns

Green water, or plant-available soil moisture, is a substantial subset of terrestrial fresh water. Land-use change (LUC) alters green water dynamics through interactions on the micro-level (i.e., between and vegetation) macro-level land surface atmosphere). Ongoing global deforestation, growing interest in reforestation projects, begs question whether such large-scale LUCs have major eco-hydrological impacts via process moisture recycling. This requires systematic, mechanistic understanding relation to LUC. Hence, this literature review addresses above scoping that draws from papers covering empirical observations simulated approximations hydrological effects LUC different parts world. The results show some regions are more vulnerable than others can affect local as well distant hydrology landscapes. Furthermore, we find many studies focus level tropical rainforests, which identify knowledge gap for temperate drylands. We derive analytical tools directions further research improve recycling patterns minimize unexpected nature society.
